Functional RadAway Ice Packs
Three functional RadAway props filled with reusable freezer gel, featuring high-resolution label artwork painstakingly recreated by hand from Fallout references rather than extracted game assets.

RadAway Variants.
These RadAway bags aren't just display props. They're completely functional reusable ice packs.
I created three different versions based on RadAway designs from across Fallout, filling the IV-style bags with a homemade freezer gel made from water, salt, xanthan gum, mica powder, and food coloring. The mixture gives them the strange translucent color and suspended shimmer I wanted for the prop while still allowing the entire bag to be frozen and used like an ordinary gel ice pack.
But one of the most time-consuming parts of these props is something that's much easier to overlook: the labels are not ripped game assets.
I painstakingly recreated the artwork myself at high resolution using visual references. Text, borders, typography, medical markings, barcodes, stains, handwriting, and all of the other tiny details had to be reconstructed so the finished labels would hold up as physical prints rather than looking like low-resolution images pulled from a screenshot.
The red-and-white RadAway label was an especially ridiculous challenge. That version comes from the Fallout television series, and I recreated it the day the show premiered. There wasn't a convenient clean piece of production artwork available for me to use. I went through high-definition footage, found the clearest views I could, zoomed in on the prop, and reconstructed the label from what was visible on screen.
The other variants received the same treatment, including the blood-stained donor labels, handwritten markings, and deliberately distressed details. What looks like a battered old medical label on the finished prop actually started as carefully reconstructed digital artwork.
They're a good example of something I love about prop making: sometimes creating a convincing piece means doing an unreasonable amount of invisible work so the final object looks completely ordinary within its fictional world.
And if you actually need an ice pack afterward, well, these can do that too.
